CN MANAGEMENT
CN Management, incorporated in 1998 by Claudia Norman, is a cultural consulting and management agency based in New York City that specializes in developing and executing international projects in the performing arts.
CN Management is the executive producer of Celebrate Mexico Now, a festival in New York City, showcasing the vanguard of contemporary Mexican architecture, cuisine, dance, film, music, theatre, and visual art. CN Management first executed the festival in 2004 as a project sponsored by the nonprofit Arts International. It was a tremendous success, including more than 150 events at 36 of New York City’s leading venues over 33 days. From September 1-18, 2005, Celebrate Mexico Now 2005 continues the first year’s trademark high-quality artistic presentations, but with a smaller, more focused roster of events and is under the fiscal sponsorship of The Field.
Since 1998, CN Management has worked with Queens Theatre in the Park in Flushing, Queens, to re-conceptualize the Theatre’s mission and programming to reflect the increased diversity of its community. By bringing Latin American artists to the United States, and focusing on marketing and audience development strategies, CN Management has helped redefine the image and role of Queens Theatre in Park. Ms. Norman currently is the Artistic Director of the Theatre’s annual summer Latino Cultural Festival.
Since 2001, CN Management has been involved with La Casita at Lincoln Center Out of Doors, curating the project and working on audience development, with a particular emphasis on bi-lingual materials. Ms. Norman is currently Project Director for La Casita.
In 2005, CN Management helped begin La Guardia Community College’s World Music Series, a new program aimed at increasing the visibility of the College as one of the most diverse educational institutions in the United States.
For the past 8 years, CN Management has also focused on international exchange by bringing American artists to Mexico through the Sociedad Artística del Tecnológico de Monterrey.
CN Management has been the producer for Chavela Vargas at Carnegie Hall in September 2003, and Mexico Here: Premieres by Emerging Mexican Choreographers at NYU’s Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in November 2004.
In addition to the above, CN Management has worked with Warner Music Latin America, Elektra Records, The Spanish Institute and FG Valores y Bolsa. It has also acted as a curatorial consultant for Festival Internacional de Arte Contemporáneo de León, and Festival Internacional de Puebla.
Claudia Norman
Prior to founding CN Management, Ms. Norman worked in New York for Sheldon Soffer Management as an artist manager and booking agent for Pilobolus Dance Company, Momix, Netherlans Dance Theatre, Noche Flamenca, Nrityagram Dance Ensemble, and Ravi Shankar among other artists.
She is an Associate Member of the Latin American Network of Independent Producers, LA RED. In the US, she has served as panelist for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), Arizona Council for the Arts, and JP Morgan Chase-AHA.
Raised and educated in Mexico City, Ms. Norman holds a degree on Latin American Studies from Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and a Certificate in Arts Administration from New York University.
